Today the sky broke open like a ripened pomegranate and the sun was briefly obscured by silver linings. In an abundance of caution we stayed cocooned in our homes, and awaited the brief inconvenience Helene promised.

That is except for the truly dedicated students. Like Noah, or Odysseus, or perhaps even Captain Philips, we shook our fist at the storm and humbly accepted it's ferocity, but defied it nevertheless. And as was agreed upon on the first day of school when you signed your name on your first assignment, we took the quiz nonetheless.

We met at the pre-arranged and agreed upon Panera, and we took the quiz on interactions amongst branches of government. I was truly moved to see almost all of my AP Government class in attendance and as we laughed, took the quiz and ate overpriced sandwiches, we truly bonded for the first time. Thank you to the almost 90 percent of you that showed up and took the quiz. I guess for the rest of you it will have to be the make up quiz, and I fear it may be more difficult.

Me, with my students during Helene, while everyone else was afraid and stayed home.
